Meet Brutha!
Brutha speaks to BryWoo from UrbanBridgez.com on their debut release, BET reality show, performing for Michael Jackson and more!
Anthony (Brutha): Yes the show comes out November 18th, and the album actually is going to be released on December 23rd instead. Yes, it's been overwhelming, but in a good way. Me and my brothers we're focused, we're working hard; we have a bond that can't be broken.
UrbanBridgez.com: I know you worked with The Clutch and also Fabolous, who else have you worked with on the project?
Grady (Brutha): We had the pleasure of working with Ne-Yo, he did 3 songs on the album , Rodney Jerkins, Eric Shire, like you said The-Clutch, Jazze Pha, & Daron from 112.
UrbanBridgez.com: Who was your favorite producer to work with?
Jake (Brutha): I would have to say Elvis Williams & Eric Shire, just because of the chemistry that we created was incredible. We helped through out ideas and we also got to co-write the track "I Can't Hear The Music" with them.
UrbanBridgez.com: What was the best part about recording?
Jared (Brutha): We actually recorded the album ATL and they housed us pretty nicely (laughs). The comfort ability of the living arrangements was just a great thing and also being in ATL.
UrbanBridgez.com: Cool and you mentioned that you co-wrote on the first single, did you guys do anymore writing?
Anthony (Brutha): No, we didn't do anymore writing on this record because our uncle said that we're newcomers and we have to get our feet wet, so we just want to get a little bit more experienced first.
UrbanBridgez.com: That's what's up, you guys performed at Michael Jackson's 45th B-Day party how did that come about and how was that experience?
Grady (Brutha): We got the chance to be invited to the party by some friends of ours and so we got there and there were a lot of actors and musicians onstage singing a rendition of "We Are The World" and Michael was right there onstage listening and we harmonized our part of it and Michael gave a nod of approval and we truly love him, he's the greatest. This is something that most groups don't get to do. We also got to sing at Stevie Wonder's Christmas party a couple years ago and also a tribute to New Edition at the ASCAP awards. We've got to do a lot of things before the release of our debut album, we're really blessed.
UrbanBridgez.com: I agree, and there are many acts out right now and others who wish they were in your shoes, what four words best describe Brutha and how do you guys stand out from the rest?
Anthony (Brutha): Determined, Humble, Unbreakable, & Hungry! That's four right there (all laugh) but what makes us stand out is of course we're brothers so that strengthens our bond.
UrbanBridgez.com: Despite being brothers, there are 5 of you each having different personalities, and I have siblings and we differ and sometimes fight, how do you guys manage getting along?
Anthony (Brutha): We're different, but everybody is determined and we all have one goal in mind and that's for our music to reach the nations.
UrbanBridgez.com: Who's the trouble maker?
Grady (Brutha): What makes us unique is that there isn't a trouble maker, there's no jealousy, we love each other, like Anthony said we have one goal in music and that's what keeps us together. And when we do act like knuckle heads that's when we're able to check each other and our uncle keeps us in check too.
UrbanBridgez.com: Who's the biggest flirt of the group?
Anthony (Brutha): That would be Grady!
UrbanBridgez.com: How was it growing up in a home with 13 siblings?
Papa (Brutha): It was interesting to say the least, all the children running around. We learned to appreciate each other's dirty draws (laughs).
UrbanBridgez.com: What are some of the aspirations that you have individually and as a group?
Anthony (Brutha): I want my own record label.
Jared (Brutha): Gain enough money to take care of my family.
Grady (Brutha): I want my brothers & I to sale out arena style venues and also get into some acting.
UrbanBridgez.com: So the show comes out in a few weeks then the album not too long after that, any last thing you want your fans to know?
Anthony (Brutha): Pick the cd up on Dec. 23rd; we love all of you all!
